Lisa has been a true North Star, helping me to find my voice and then guiding me through one of the most important milestones in our work—documenting our organization’s model and methods. From that first step to the completion of two books for our non-profit organization, she has been by our side, offering unwavering support and expertise. Her deep knowledge, loyalty, and commitment are matched only by her marvelous sense of humor, which was invaluable for keeping a sense of balance and levity while we navigated tough decisions and personality differences. She’s a creative thinker and brilliant problem solver, always able to explore new possibilities. I’m incredibly grateful for her partnership and friendship throughout this journey.

My sessions with Lisa have provided invaluable clarity and direction, helping me navigate my professional journey with confidence. I leave each discussion feeling seen, understood, and equipped with clear next steps to tackle challenges. Lisa’s brilliance and strategic thinking, combined with her human-centered leadership, bring out your strengths in a world that often highlights deficits. I highly recommend her for aspirational, positive conversations that inspire you to be your most authentic self.

I met Lisa Holton at the Institute for Nonprofit Practice’s Program in Social Impact Management and Leadership. Lisa led our weekly practice seminar which was the high point of the program. The practice seminar was a small group of nonprofit professionals engaged in problem solving discussions that resulted from our various experiences. Lisa began the sessions with a mindfulness exercise and often she would read a poem to help center us for our discussion. She created an intimate, supportive, joyful environment that we looked forward to; one where we felt cared for and comfortable sharing very personal experiences.

Jump at the Sun was entirely Lisa’s brainchild. Watching her advocate for the imprint and its books and authors was a real education for me. She consistently fought for the imprint, pushing back when she got resistance; she was a strong proponent of diversity and underrepresented voices. She considered inclusive literature a form of social justice. She had a lasting influence on me as a publishing leader, as she has with so many others.
